6268c84d8a Prevent accidentally dropping TexturesDelta (#8356)
We had a ton of issues around `TexturesDelta` that weren't properly
applied because we early-out of some function:
* https://github.com/emilk/egui/pull/8313
* https://github.com/emilk/egui/pull/8250
* https://github.com/emilk/egui/pull/8279

This PR changes texture updates, so that we always store them after
taking them out of `FullOutput` and keep the delta around until it's
actually applied (by passing &mut refs and draining instead of
iterating). So even if we add a new early return somewhere, that can't
break texture updates.

It also optimizes `TexturesDelta::append` by dropping any previous
deltas if there's a new `whole` delta or a `free`.

It also adds a debug assert that any `TexturesDelta` is empty when
dropped, as an additional safeguard in case the bug sneaks back in.

2cb071f7f6 Remove Modifiers from RawInput and make it a egui::Event (#8336)
- needs #8335

Previously it was impossible to correctly set modifiers via egui
inspection, since that only passes egui::Event and egui::Event had no
way to generally express modifiers.
Now modifiers are passed to egui as a Event and not as a field of
`RawInput`.

a59e803f25 Update to wgpu 29 (#7990)
* [x] I have followed the instructions in the PR template

This updates wgpu to v29 across the egui crate stack.

There a a few API changes due to the requirement to provide a display
handle up front to properly support GLES on linux. I have done my best
to make the api changes as reasonable as possible, but I don't have all
the greater project context, so lmk if things should be done a bit
differently.

I've also updated glow to 0.17 to make cargo deny happy, there are no
source changes. I'm not sure how you want to land these.

5031c47cb2 Update accesskit to 0.24.0 (and related deps) (#7850)
this patch updates our deps to [accesskit
0.24.0](https://docs.rs/accesskit/0.24.0/accesskit/) (was
[0.21.1](https://docs.rs/accesskit/0.21.1/accesskit/)),
[accesskit_consumer
0.35.0](https://docs.rs/accesskit_consumer/0.35.0/accesskit_consumer/)
(was
[0.30.1](https://docs.rs/accesskit_consumer/0.30.1/accesskit_consumer/)),
and [accesskit_winit
0.32.0](https://docs.rs/accesskit_winit/0.32.0/accesskit_winit/) (was
[0.29.1](https://docs.rs/accesskit_winit/0.29.1/accesskit_winit/)),
allowing egui to be used in apps that use accessibility subtrees
(AccessKit/accesskit#655).

for now, we handle the subtree-related breaking changes by assuming that
egui will use [the root
tree](https://docs.rs/accesskit/0.24.0/accesskit/struct.TreeId.html#associatedconstant.ROOT),
which is good enough for [servoshell](https://github.com/servo/servo)
and does not require any API changes.

2f6fe9c572 eframe: Replace Frame::update with fn logic and fn ui (#7775)
* Part of https://github.com/emilk/egui/issues/5113
* Part of https://github.com/emilk/egui/issues/3524

## What
This deprecates `eframe::App::update` and replaces it with two new
functions:

```rs
pub trait App {
	/// Called just before `ui`, and in the future this will
    /// also be called for background apps when needed.
	fn logic(&mut self, ctx: &egui::Context, frame: &mut Frame) { }
    /// Show your user interface to the user.
	fn ui(&mut self, ui: &mut egui::Ui, frame: &mut Frame);
	…
}
```

Similarly, `Context::run` is deprecated in favor of `Context::run_ui`.

`Plugin`s are now handed a `Ui` instead of just a `Context` in
`on_begin/end_frame`.

## TODO
…either in this PR or a later one
* [x] Deprecate `App::update`
* [x] Deprecate `Context::run`
* [x] Change plugins to get a `Ui`
* [x] Update kittest
* [x] Change viewports to get UI:s (`show_viewport_immediate` etc)
  - https://github.com/emilk/egui/pull/7779

## Later PRs
* [ ] Deprecate `Panel::show`
* [ ] Deprecate `CentralPanel::show`
* [ ] Deprecate `CentralPanel` ?

2dbfe3a083 Enable or_fun_call lint to avoid unnecessary allocations (#7754)
### What

From the [lint
description](https://rust-lang.github.io/rust-clippy/master/index.html?search=or_fu#or_fun_call):

> The function will always be called. This is only bad if it allocates
or does some non-trivial amount of work.

But also:

> If the function has side-effects, not calling it will change the
semantic of the program, but you shouldn’t rely on that.
>
> The lint also cannot figure out whether the function you call is
actually expensive to call or not.

Still worth it to keep our happy paths clean, imo.

de907612b7 Enforce consistent snapshot updates (#7744)
* Closes https://github.com/emilk/egui/issues/7647

This collects SnapshotResults within the Harness and adds a check to
enforce snapshot results are merged in case multiple Harnesses are
constructed within a test.

This should make snapshot updates via kitdiff/accept_snapshots.sh way
more useful since it should now always update all snapshots instead of
only the first one per test.

d83f4500a3 Add Harness::debug_open_snapshot helper (#7590)
Adds a helper to quickly see whats going on in a kittest test.

Not all test have snapshots, but when debugging tests it might still be
useful to see whats actually going on, so this adds a helper fn that
renders a snapshot image to a temporary file and opens it with the
default image viewer:

30277233ce Add support for the safe area on iOS (#7578)
This PR is a continuation of #4915 by @frederik-uni and @lucasmerlin
that introduces support for keeping egui content within the 'safe area'
on iOS (avoiding the notch / dynamic island / menu bar etc.), with the
following changes:

- `SafeArea` now wraps `MarginF32` and has been renamed to
`SafeAreaInsets` to clarify its purpose.
- `InputState::screen_rect` is now marked as deprecated in favour of
either `viewport_rect` (which contains the entire screen), or
`content_rect` (which is the viewport rect with the safe area insets
removed).
- I added some comments to the safe area insets logic pointing out the
[safe area API coming in winit
v0.31](https://github.com/rust-windowing/winit/issues/3910).

aedd43c88f kittest: Add UPDATE_SNAPSHOTS=force (#7508)
This adds a new mode, `UPDATE_SNAPSHOTS=force`, which will lower the
threshold to zero, overwriting every image that is not _exactly_ the
same.

Most comparisons has a threshold because different GPUs render slightly
differently. However, setting that threshold accurately can be hard.

Sometimes a test will pass locally, but fail on CI. In those cases you
want to force an update of the failing test. You can use
`UPDATE_SNAPSHOTS=force` for that.

And sometimes a small change _should_ update all images, but the change
is so tiny that it falls under the threshold. Still, you want to make a
point of showing that these images have changes. You can use
`UPDATE_SNAPSHOTS=force` for that.
